Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Italy dates back to 1856. The newly formed Italian Kingdom was recognized by the Ottoman Empire with an imperial addict on 5 July 1861. The Embassy, which was first established in Turin and then in Florence, has been moved to Rome in 1871.
Turkish Embassy has been serving at its current chancellery in Rome (Palazzo Gamberini) since 1887.
